Welcome

The Charlie Perkins Trust partners with the Aurora Project and University of Canberra to deliver a range of projects in Indigenous education through The Aspiration Initiative.

The Charlie Perkins Children's Trust was set up in 2002 to assist Indigenous children in the areas of health and education. In October 2008, the Trust’s purposes were expanded to include the education of students as well as children, and the Trust was renamed the Charlie Perkins Trust for Children & Students.

In recent years, the Trust has assisted with or facilitated the funding of:
  • a dialysis unit in Kintore, in the Northern Territory
  • swimming pools in Kintore and Maningrida, in the Northern Territory
  • prizes for Indigenous students at the University of Sydney
  • an annual oration at the University of Sydney
  • the provision of oral health services in Katherine and Wadeye, NT, through the Tooth Mob volunteer dental program.

In 2009, with the assistance of the University of Oxford, the Charlie Perkins Trust established the annual Charlie Perkins Scholarships.  The Scholarships initially provided two talented Indigenous Australians with the opportunity to undertake postgraduate study at the University of Oxford in 2010.  Since 2011, the Scholarships have also been available for postgraduate programs of study at the University of Cambridge.
