I realised some time ago, that my drive has never been about me. It's always been about serving my community, and that is what I intend to spend the rest of my life doing - both inside and outside of academia. |
Ethan is a proud Warumungu and Warlmanpa man who grew up on Yamatji Country. Ethan has completed his Bachelor of Arts with First Class Honours in Philosophy from the University of Melbourne. Ethan has exampled his passion for supporting Indigenous students and academics, from founding and being the National President of the Union of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students (UATSIS) to working in countless local Indigenous Youth organisations.
Ethan has completed his MPhil in Politics at Oxford in 2024 with the support of the Charlie Perkins Scholarship and is now, separately, completing his DPhil in Politics at Oxford. In his MPhil thesis, Ethan explored a dialect between the Indigenous politics of sovereignty and academic political theories of sovereignty by investigating in what way existing academic theories of sovereignty can accommodate Indigenous claims to sovereignty, and in what ways Indigenous claims to sovereignty challenge existing theories.
Ethan plans to return to Australia to become an academic Political Philosopher/Theorist who will ensure his work is accessible and translatable to the public.
