Isobel is a proud Torres Strait Islander woman living in Brisbane with maternal connection to Mabuyag and Boigu Island, and paternal connection to Badu Island. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) from the University of Brisbane and currently serves as a Family Connection Practitioner at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Services. Committed to making a difference in the health sector, Isobel is now pursuing a MSc in International Health and Tropical Medicine at Oxford University. Her studies will encompass global health, health economics, epidemiology, and leadership, alongside workshops in media training and policy briefings.
A key component of her program includes a mandatory placement in a resource-limited setting in Asia or Africa, where Isobel will gain invaluable hands-on experience. Armed with this expertise, she is poised to return to Australia and play a pivotal role in advancing global and public health research, particularly for Torres Strait and Indigenous communities. Through her work and future leadership, Isobel aspires to drive meaningful change in the health outcomes of her people.
